Chapter 13 trustees administer chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.

Chapter 13 is a chapter of the bankruptcy code.

Individuals with regular income and debts below a statutory level can utilize chapter 13 to reorganize their debts through a bankruptcy plan. The bankruptcy plan generally requires debtors to make payments for three to five years, and at the end of the three to five years many debts are forgiven.

Chapter 13 trustees are appointed by the United States Trustee, an office of the United States Department of Justice.

Pamela Simmons-Beasley will retire as the Chapter 13 Standing Trustee effective September 30, 2024.

Dawn M. Hardesty will become the Chapter 13 Standing Trustee for the District of South Carolina on October 1, 2024.

All pending cases previously assigned to Mrs. Simmons-Beasley will be re-assigned to Mrs. Hardesty effective October 1, 2024.
